There are many films being produced on a daily basis. One of the most outstanding movies of all times is the ‘Fist of Fear A Touch of Death’ which is hosted by Adolph Caesar. In this article we shall take a deeper look into the background of this iconic film and closely analyze its lead story, Bruce lee.

A Review of the film A Touch of Death & Bruce Lee

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE MOVIE
The touch of death is a 1980 martial art movie which was widely also known as ‘The Dragon and the Cobra.’ This martial art film is about a tournament held at the Madison Square city aimed at choosing a successor for the lead actor Bruce Lee. The film features several footages from past Bruce Lee movies such as the new film footage and the kung fu television show. One of the most outstanding histories of this movie is that Bruce Lee passed on before it was produced. Therefore most critics consider this movie as exploitation and a misuse of Bruce Lee’s name.

The film starts off at an auspicious occasion in the Madison Square garden. On the outside, Adolph Caesar, an interviewer is interviewing a man who is the organizer of the event (Aaron Banks). This scene is succeeded by another one from the inside as Caesar introduces some of the competitors such as Bill Louie for the contest. Further on he talks about the legacy of Bruce Lee citing some interview footage he did shortly before he passed on. The interviewer goes on to takes us through a flashback when Fred Williamson, the action star goes through a number of obstacles before finally succeeding to qualify for the tournament. A profile of one of the lead stars Ron Clief is run after his interview and Ron Clief is later on featured rescuing a woman from the hands of a rapist.

The middle of the film features the biography of Bruce Lee from his early days in China. The movie depicts Bruce Lee’s urge to venture into karate as an inspiration from his aged grandfather who was indeed a samurai warrior during his prime age. Later Bruce lands a career as an actor. This scene is succeeded by Bill Louie dressed as the green hornet saving two women from being raped in broad daylight.
The film is concluded back at the Madison Garden square. A number of performers are showcased and it is during the final interview that Fred Williamson (a lead actor) denounces the idea of people contesting to succeed Bruce Lee. Louis Neglia finally emerges as the overall winner.

The film climaxes with a boxing match which is aimed at determining the ultimate winner and successor of Bruce Lee. Though the winner or the conclusion of the boxing match is not determined, this scene will surely keep you at the edge of your seat.

CRITICISM
The film is criticized for its complete ignorance not only on the facts of Bruce Lee’s life but also for its apathy towards the Chinese culture. There is also a sheer disappointment in the long run when we learn that Bruce lee had no direct role in the film. Most people view it as a misuse to the name of Bruce Lee.<br />

A CLOSER LOOK AT BRUCE LEE
Bruce Lee is an icon of martial arts in fact most people who wish to study this antique do so by watching his films such as the old kung fu films. It is adequate to say that Bruce truly set high standards for martial arts worldwide. Let us now analyze the life and times of this great man.

Bruce was born in November 1940 in San Francisco USA. His parents were of Hong Kong origin and hence Bruce spent most of his young days in Hong Kong China. He later on moved back to United States where went on to become a film producer, founder and screenwriter of Jeet Kune movement. Many people namely commentators, the media and critics concur that Bruce was indeed the most influential martial art film maker in the 20th century.

His films which were mostly produced in Hong Kong and Hollywood brought the culture of martial arts to the limelight. This ushered a major surge of interest of the Chinese culture in the western nations in the 1970′s. Some of his most outstanding roles are in the ‘Fist of fury’ produced in 1972 and the ‘Way of the dragon’ also produce in the same year.
Lee cemented his position as an icon of Chinese nationalism throughout the whole world. He is most remembered for rejecting the well defined Wing chun martial styles preferring to instead use his own invented techniques which were dubbed The jeet kune do moves.

BRUCE LEE’S ACTING CAREER
Bruce Lee gained most of his acting inspiration from his father who was a famous Cantonese opera actor. Lee was introduced to acting at a very tender age; he took his first role as a baby being carried to the stage in the film ‘The Golden gate Girl.’ He went on with film acting into the early twenties; before he found this desire to venture into the world of martial arts. He went on to abandon his film career and fully ventured into pursuing martial arts. It is during one of his martial arts exhibitions that he landed the role in the film ‘Number one Son.’ From then onwards it seemed impossible to separate Lee from acting martial arts films. Bruce Lee went on to get an invitational role of Kato in the television series ‘The green Hornet.’

In total Bruce Lee featured in more than twenty films. The climax of his career was marked when he featured in two renowned films namely ‘The fist of fury’ and ‘The big boss ‘in 1972.

BRUCE LEE’S DEATH
Bruce died on May 1973 after collapsing in the Golden Harvest studios during one of his film making routine exercises. He was diagnosed cerebral edema but died a few days after being admitted to the Hong Kong Baptist hospital at the age of thirty two.

Hope this conclusive look at the film A Touch of Death &amp; Bruce Lee lifes and times will provide answers to most of your questions on this matter.

If you’ve ever heard of the death touch in martial arts, you’re probably wondering what it is and if it’s legit. Rumor has it that if you pinch someone in a certain spot, they’ll die instantly. The biggest tale encircling the death touch is that this is how Bruce Lee died in the 70s. Unfortunately for Lee supporters and death touch advocates, it looks like he died due to a bad reaction to painkillers, not a magical pinch.

Scientists and medical professionals don’t believe there’s one specific spot that you can touch without too much force and kill a man instantly. They especially don’t believe the claims they’ve heard about hitting a person and watching them explode, literally. Professionals do, however, know that you can kill someone, either accidentally or purposely, with much less force than you expect.

The death touch is known “dim mak” in Cantonese and “kyusho jitsu” in Japanese. Your body’s energy, or chi, flows through you on meridian lines. Contact with one of these pressure points causes the victim to be incapacitated or die, according to legend. This technique of attack doesn’t actually work, though, according to the medical journals. However, this legend may have arisen because of the severe trauma that can be caused by seemingly mild events.

For example, cardiac concussion is caused by impact to the chest. Even if nothing penetrates the chest, some people can still experience heart failure. This can happen if a child takes a hockey puck to the chest, for instance. Another example is if your carotid artery is stifled. This artery is on the side of your neck and it carries blood to your head. If too much pressure is applied to the area of the artery that splits in two, the walls of your blood vessels will be damaged which can cause stroke. The odds of you walking up to someone, giving them a quick pinch and watching as their lifeless body falls to the ground, though, is slim.

Many traditional texts and concepts like Dim Mak (Chinese), and Varma Ati (Tamil- Indian) have clearly described the concept and utilization of the death touch. Death touch includes directing attacks or blows to particular points in the body that cause instant paralysis or delayed death. The Indian version of the death touch is known as the Varma Ati or Varma Kalai that describes around 108 vital points on the body surface that could be attacked or stimulated to cause injury to the opponent. This is based on the flow of energy called Prana and stagnating the prana at particular points cause particular type of derangement’s and lead to death and some of them cause instant death.

The Chinese version is somewhat similar to Varma Ati, as the number of points described in Chinese texts are numerous and their form of energy in the body is called as yin and Yang. Creating a disturbance in the flow of this energy, the force of the blow, and the exact location will cause the death.

Both the claims have not yet been scientifically verified, but enjoy a high regard among martial artists and enthusiasts. The knowledge of death touch is utilized by the modern day traditional healers to bring back the body to normalcy and emphasizes to live peacefully.

You may have heard of them or seen them used in movies but death touch martial arts continue to be mystery for many. They are simple looking moves that maim or kill an opponent with one touch. The moves typically rely on a small amount of effort meaning that small bodied people like women and children with the right training could be able to stop a big man in his tracks. The big question however remains the authenticity of these moves and their effectiveness in real world scenarios.

Skeptics’ will argue that they are just a fad propagated by Hollywood movies and backstreet martial arts do-jos. However practitioners of the ancient martial art of Dim Mak don’t agree. Dim mak means death touch. It basically encompasses striking points in the body (pressure points) to cause death or illness. These points also called dim mak points correspond to the regular acupuncture points. The Dim mak death touch martial arts are extremely and even the live demonstrations done on video are all at the risk of killing the participant.

As it developed from the ancient forms this form of advanced Dim mak was taught only to the most trustworthy and advanced students and they have remained in seclusion. However with the advent of modern technology these secrets have come into the open through books, websites and videos.

This raises the issue of safety and public well being as poorly trained practitioners could easily commit murder both intentionally and unintentionally. Dim mak has been validated by modern medical science with knockouts, internal organ attacks and delayed death touch having been proven to be effective to the point of causing death. One should therefore be careful when practicing.

It has therefore been proven without a doubt that the ancient art of Dim mak really is the bona-fide death touch martial arts.

However, many people tend to confuse the different kinds of paranormal activities known to exist. One type of paranormal activity is haunting, which is very common and many people complain about having experienced it. Haunting can be caused by a number of factors. It is believed that when a person dies and his/her spirit had been destined for a given location, you will experience haunting when you visit the location since his/her spirit resides there.

Another type of haunting is household haunting. This is believed to occur if a victim of a certain household had an untimely death. His/her spirit can remain in a given location for some centuries. You can also experience haunting when you buy goods of a deceased person who had a strong attachment to the property where you bought the goods from.

Demonic possession is another kind of paranormal activity. This one is very rare but very dangerous when it happens in an individual. Many of these possessions are said to be associated with water bodies. This demon will possess you if you happen to be performing satanic rituals. It is an example of the kind of possessions that Jesus healed people of during his ministry. If you are possessed, you should undergo an exorcism to get back to normal.
The third type of paranormal activity is poltergeist phenomena. This one occurs when you are stressed and it is often confused with typical house haunting. It is mostly experienced when one is going through puberty or menopause in the case of women. You will know that you are suffering from this if you happen to see objects projecting or see physical objects flying from one room to another.

The last type of paranormal activity is extrasensory perception. This is where you are able to deal with psychic abilities. If you experience this activity, you can know facts that you have never read or heard about. You are also able to transfer information to another person using your mind only. Still on the same you can experience soul movement where your soul leaves your body at times and returns at will without resulting to death.
